Future Simple or Future Continuous

Should you use the future simple or the future continuous? What's the difference between the future simple and future continuous?

The answer is this.

I will replace the laptop next Wednesday.

Past

Now

Future

I will be replacing the laptop next Wednesday.

Future simple = "I will replace the laptop next Wednesday" = the speaker does not indicate if the action will be short or long.

The action (replace the laptop) could take a long time, or be quick. We don't know.

Future continuous = "I will be replacing the laptop next Wednesday" = the speaker does indicate the action will be long.

The action (replace the laptop) will take a long time.
